Designed for client devices based on the PCI
Express architecture, the Broadcom BCM43xx is a high-performance
802.11a/g baseband processor with an integrated media access controller
(MAC). The highly-integrated solution delivers superior performance,
range and ease-of-use in a small, cost-effective package -providing new
levels of design flexibility for wireless-enabled notebook PCs, printers
and other client devices.
PCI Express is a state-of-the-art bus
architecture that addresses the needs of next-generation computing and
communications products. Whereas today's embedded applications push the
limits of the parallel PCI architecture, PCI Express uses serial
interconnect technology to deliver higher bit rates that are better
suited for performance-intensive multimedia applications. The PCI
Express architecture also offers greater scalability, due to its
low-cost, low pin-count design and software compatibility with existing
PCI infrastructure.
